Believe in Love Letters - St. Valentine's Day Manicure Marathon-Day 11

And the beat goes on....
For Day 10, I am going to rack this combination as a Kimberly fail.  The end result doesn't look good on me.  Individually, the polishes are beautiful, however.

What I have here is Color Club's 'I Believe in Amour' and I layered Love My Nails 'Diva' on top of that.

Don't trust the sunlight photo to show 'I Believe in Amour' in its actual color.  It's a dusty rose and not a pale pink.  I'd say it is a lighter rose color than the quintessential 'dusty rose.'  Suffice it to say, it's a creme and it really is one I like.

I was looking for something a bit more exciting but I should have left well enough alone.  (You've heard me say THAT before!)  I was looking for a way to incorporate Love My Nails 'Diva' into the Marathon.  I thought 'I Believe in Amour' would be great.  But it ended up making the manicure look dirty.

'Diva' is a coral-y pink sheer with pink and iridescent glitter.  I only put on one coat over the 3 I did with 'I Believe in Amour.'  I used only one because the sheer tint was changing the color way too much.  It was looking like an old Sally Hansen frost polish.  Ick!  And what happened to the iridescent glitter??  The pink glitter is so sparse, so I don't think the iridescent even got on the brush.

So, I just stopped there.  I wanted to remove this manicure and move on to something I'd find more pleasing to me.  To be sure, I will try these two polishes again, just not at the same time.

What do you layer 'Diva' over?  I save the love letters my hubs has sent me...they are all on sticky notes.  lol  Do you save yours?

A Crimson Cutie- St. Valentine's Day Manicure Marathon-Day 10

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 2/10/2011 05:00:00 PM 5 comments
Do you have any plans to celebrate St. Valentine's Day?  I'm scheduling the day off to goof off with hubs.  We've put aside quite a few Valentine's Days because he had to either teach a night class or stay late advising students.  It was always something.  So I'm looking forward to a day together.  I hope he is too...lol!

Late, last summer there was a release of 2 new collections my MEGA Beauty.  There was, later, some controversy about the 2 owners being with another major nail company and encroaching on a non-compete issue.  I ran to CVS, who carries this brand, and both up a bunch because, when they are gone, that's it.

This is one of my MOST favorite polish colors...

And Crimson it is!  It looks a bit orange-tinged in the photo.  However, let me reassure you, there is no orange or hint of yellow in this hot red.

Confetti's 'Crimson Cute' is now my staple 'red that looks good on me' in my polish collection.  Do you like that oh, so hot and sexy red?  You have to get this one...
And if you wear shoes that show your toes, this one will sure to stir up some fires.  Hopefully, I am not alone in feeling that wearing certain colors of polish add to your mood, but I feel hot wearing this color.  Not that pre-menopause hot either.

This hot is 'I'm too sexy for my shoes' hot.  If you are wanting to add some spice to your Valentine's Day with a smouldering red color, may I highly suggest you get over to CVS and get this one.  When Confetti polishes are gone, don't be left with no 'hot stuff' to wear on your nails.

Just like red lipstick, I LOVE to wear blood red polish.  How about you?  Does it convey a scene of 'oh yea, I'm hot!', or, would you rather pass on a red polish?

LA Girl Pink - St Valentine's Day Manicure Marathon-Day 9

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 2/08/2011 06:31:00 PM 6 comments
For Day 9 of the Marathon, I picked this LA Color named 'Pink Satin.'  In the bottle, it has a fuchsia shimmer.  However, I think it stayed in the bottle...
I don't have a lot of spamola on this swatch.  Suffice it to say, it was thin and very sheer. I have on 4 coats here.  When I find a polish such as 'Pink Satin', I think it's perfect for someone that wants to wear nail polish but doesn't want to scream the fact.  Also, I can see a young girl wearing this color, as well.

I tried to capture that shimmer on my polish, and this was as close as I could get.  In real life, it's still difficult to see.  I had to 'look' for it as it wasn't obvious.

Even with all its shortcomings, I do like the color.  It's a girly pink and it would be office friendly.  If you don't mind a watery, sheer polish, this one is worth it.  Also, let me say, that 'Pink Satin' came from a store called Below 5.  This is mostly a candy store but has lots of very inexpensive t-shirts, label buttons, gag tricks, toys and makeup.  They have a lot of LA Girl and LA Colors makeup.  There were a couple of these stores that I frequented when I lived in Virginia Beach, VA.  Unfortunately, they don't have them here in Florida.  Drats!

But they do have a lot of beauty supply stores that sell wigs, hair extensions and products for such.  Here's what I got last week...
I'm going to make my own wild color clip-in hair extensions.  The clips were $1 each.  The hair was $2 each.  That's a lot cheaper than the $15 I see in other stores like Sally's or Hot Topic.  This beauty store had a lot of different color hair extensions like these. I got 2 that I didn't have already.

When it comes to coloring my hair, I'm commitment-phobic.  But, when it comes to buying nail polish, the more the merrier!

Do you wear the clip-in hair extensions?  Do you have a Five Below store nearby?  How many pink nail polishes to you own?  I have enough that I don't really want to know the exact number. ;)

Cupid Glitter-St. Valentine's Day Manicure Marathon - Day 8

What's up for Day 8??  A vibrant, red glitter layering polish.

'Dark Red Glitter', by NYX, will make any coordinating base coat POP!  I didn't layer it, this time, because I wanted to see if, by chance, I could get an opaque look. Not going to happen though.  Here's 4 coats and you can still see VNL...
I was surprised, that with all the glitter in the polish, that not much of it transferred to the nail.  However, since it really is meant to be a layering polish, you don't really want a ton of glitter or, you end up with it looking garish. And on that note, here's my rename of this color: 'Cupid's Trail.'
'Dark Red Glitter' has a faint, pink base with pink and fuchsia glitter within.  This polish stayed on hard for the 2 days I wore it.  It was a bit of a pistol to remove, however.  I'll save this one to spice up another color.  It has great potential and the glitter is over the top sparkly.

Sometimes I will take a layering polish like 'Dark Red Glitter' and put it on a couple of days old mani to spruce it up until I have time for a complete mani.  Do you do this too?
