You Know You Want The Entire Collection: LA Colors Flowers Palettes

Thankfully, being a beauty blog reader, and then a blogger, I have found that I am not alone wanting to own an entire collection of anything from nail polishes, to lip glosses to eye shadows. And, how easy is it to afford such an obsession if it is at the Dollar Tree. 

So, when I found a new-to-me collection of LA Color shadows, it was chump-change to get all five...

 

 

 

This are named after flowers but I found that nothing about the flower coordinates with the shades.

Doesn't matter to me. I find them uber-pretty...

 

 

 

OK, OK...I know. Sometimes Dollar Tree makeup can be chalky and just plain cheap. And, I will agree. However, I have found that in the past 4 or so years, LA Colors has gotten a lot better. This collection is the best so far.

Here I swatched Water Lily and Orchid...

I'm not going to fib, these are so smooth, I had to double check that they were not creams. The swatches, that's just 2 strokes each with the sponge applicator. Butta-smooth. I found these so easy, kindergarten easy, to work with. In fact, I loved the way they looked so much, I'm going to actually do an EOTD (eye of the day) look.(There's your warning!)

The embossed shadows will make for some pretty MOO cards. I use MOO for the blog's business cards. I can use my own photos. Here's one that will be in the selection next time...

I Spy....Katy Perry False Eyelashes and a Neutral Palette

Even though I haven't read anything new in the beauty world that has piqued my interest, I still look. Yet it can be like going into a candy store with a $20 bill! There are some coming soon products I want but I'm trying to wait....oh, please hurry!!!!

I did find a display of Katy Perry's false eyelashes at Ulta though...

There are four different styles and I don't think any of them are demure. But then, Katy isn't demure, herself!

I like falsies that are just a bit less dramatic. But if you want to bat some serious lashes, these are some to try.

Last week, I went into Forever 21. I had no business in there, as I'm trying to maintain a budget on products, but I had to see if they had any new, spring nail polishes. I did find some but, I also found this...

Rats! What do I need another shadow palette for!!? Well, here's how I talked myself into it. I would love to get the new Urban Decay Naked 2 set. But I'm too stingy to pay $49. However, this love & beauty palette of neutral shades was only $9.80. Wow! That's a bargain and it could quench my Naked 2 thirst. It has for the past 6 days...

I'd never tell you that this palette even comes close to an UD palette; I know better! But they are pretty. There are shimmers and mattes and I haven't found a chalky one yet. In fact, all that I have tried, so far, have blended really good.

Naturally, I could just fawn and drool over a new, unused palette, without touching any...

Have you ever played 'shadow roulette'? I randomly pick three shadows and make a look with them. I do cheat a bit and preselect a brow bone highlight color. It flexes my makeup creativity, all just for fun. And when I learn how to take decent look of the day photos, I'll share these with you.

Wet 'n Wild Baked Collection Swatches

The new, Baked Eye Shadows by Wet 'n Wild, have been showing up at Walgreens more and more. There are not too many shadow palettes in the Wet 'n Wild display so if you find these, don't hedge on them.

These are the holiday palettes and the theme is baked, which is exactly the method used to make these shadows. At the top is 'Baked Not Fried', the neutrals; next is 'Baking a Cake', the purples/pinks; and last is 'Bake-Off Contest', the blues. Each palette, also, has a coordinating eyeliner pencil that comes in the set.

Here are swatches of 'Baked Not Fried'...

The top swatch line is the eyeliner pencil. Great pigmentation.

Next is 'Baking A Cake'...

The far right swatch mark is the slightly shimmery, black eyeliner pencil. These shadows are silky and have great color payoff.

And last is 'Bake-Off Contest'...

I don't use a lot of blue eyeshadow. Probably because it can see like I'm stuck in the '70's or '80's. For me, it would be '80's because I didn't wear makeup in the '70's. :) However, these shades are just too pretty to not use. That top swatch mark is the silvery-blue eyeliner pencil. There's no hiding the twinkle in these shadows.

The verdict I will share with you is that these palettes are sweet. They are so heavily pigmented that I will mention, if you use these, go with a very light hand in the beginning. Work on building up slowly. And you'll find that these shades blend really well.

This doesn't please me to show you this, but you need to see what the eye area of a 49 year old looks like (I do think I've done a great deal in taking care of my eye area, however)...

I used the neutral palette, 'Baked Not Fried.' The colors blended so nicely. And, this shot was taken later in the afternoon. I was working with seeing how long the baked shadows would last using Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I don't think it did too bad.

Profusion Brightening Eyes Shadows for the Upcoming Holidays

Here are the swatches I did of the Profusion Brightening Eyes shadows I got this week at Walgreens...

 There are just 3 pans from this collection, currently being sold at Walgreens. I couldn't lose for only $.99 each. Now, some snooping investigating turned up this on their website; There are also a pink, blue and neutral (or it could be bronze-since they are numbered rather than named, I don't know which one is which) pans. And the discription states that these can be used wet or dry. I'm only showing dry today. I think the Profusion shadows would look awesome as wet eyeliners.

The 'greens' pan was one I just about passed on. But I'm glad I didn't!

Here are swatches for the green one...

I did not swatch all individual shade. The very top one is a swipe of all of them together. Then I did just 3 individual shades. The lightest shade came out the least pigmented. However, when I wore it over UD Primer, and used it as a highlighter, it was very pigmented. I just used a cotton swap for these swipes here.

Next, this is the 'purple' pan...

 The mixture of all of them together is the swipe at the bottom.

And, finally, this is the 'bronze' (?) pan...

 I knew right off I was going to go for that burgundy, second to the last, in the pan.

The top swipe is the mixture of all colors. The bottom swipe shows the burgundy that has some serious flash of purple and brown. I am eager to try that one wet as an eyeliner.

My two cents: if you want some cheap makeup, this will work. The highlight color from the purple pan got shiny after just one look's use. However, I was still getting enough powder on the brush to transfer onto my browbone.

If you want to take just one palette/pan for a trip, these would work very well and you could create many different looks with just one pan. I'm taking the purple one for a weekend trip to the Gulf Coast this weekend. My sister has flown in from Texas, and her and her fiance' will get married on the beach on Sunday. :)

Having purchased Profusion Cosmetics in the past, this this collection is very vibrant, shimmery and trendy color coordinating. Considering the price, I think you get better than your money's worth. I had expected these to be $3.99 each which, by the way, is exactly the price they are on their website.

Profusion Cosmetics Holiday Gift Sets at Walgreens

Yesterday, I teased about some upcoming makeup at Walgreens. I would have purchased more but I am trying to refrain from having the largest makeup palette collection in North America.

Here are some of the goodies I saw...

Before there is room on the 'regular' shelves, Walgreens will house products on the upper levels of the shelves. This is where I have been looking for Wet 'n Wild's On The Prowl display. However, I think that now it is Halloween season, they would be at eye-level.

Profusion Cosmetics looks like the first company to get their stuff to Walgreens. This is a makeup bag of 5 vibrate colors of lip gloss. Since the plastic reflects the light, I can't show the shimmer that are in each of these. And, I seem to be having another love affair with lip glosses, so I'm sure I'll end up, at some point, with this set. Price point: $4.99

At 99 cents, how easy is that?! I'm going to do a swatch post for you very soon, however, here is what they look like...

No names, just numbers. I almost didn't get the green set. But let me say, I'm glad I didn't pass it up! Just wait for the swatching!!

Palettes galore!!!

 

Three different bling palettes have a collection of a dozen colors all together. Probably some dupes but it is virgin makeup porn and I like it!!!!! And did you notice that the display says that the cover is a reusable card holder? I'll have to see if my pink blingy card holder is the same as this one.

I wore a combination from all three palettes today. Some of the shades are more pigmented than others but I liked what I created. There a could of shades that I'm happy to have.
