NOTD

Tons, I tell ya, TONS of new polishes to get review.  I wonder if the drawer I hide ...er, I mean STORE them will hold up.

Today's polishes are by LASplash in Sparkling Jellyfish...
And Milani's 2.0 on the toes...
First, the hands.  LASplash is a new to me brand.  I found this new line of cosmetics at Ulta this past week.  I picked this one polish to try out.  It was $3.99, so nothing that breaks the bank.  They have other types of makeup too and I helped myself to a super deep green glitter mascara.  But, I'm digressing.

Today when I went to use this polish, the entire top broke off.  I mean the top of the bottle! To avoid an ugly accident, back to Ulta I went today.  I got it replaced.  It was easy after the manager made sure I got the very same color.  (??? Did she have to say that out loud?)

So, here is the little pistol of a polish presented outside with a slightly overcast sky:
Whoa!!!  Can you say 'VNL'!!!!  And this is after 4 coats.  I used Base-ics base coat, by Olan Labs, with 2 coats of Seche Clear.  Then came the 4 coats of LASplash to give this amount of coverage.  I start my polish strokes at my cuticle, but as you can tell from this picture, the sparkles didn't start to lie down til a bit further up.  With each coat, I tried to get the color closer to my cuticle but it didn't work.  There's no top coat in this picture but I did, later, put on a coat of Seche Clear and followed with the final coat of Quick & Easy top coat by Olan Labs.  Even then, the nail felt scritchy from the glitter.

This picture shows the color of this orange glitter polish, very well.  The sparkle is iridescent. I 'think' this is the type of polish that is referred to as 'jelly.'  Maybe one of my dear readers can enlighten me on this.  It's a very sheer coverage.  I was more than just a little disappointed in this as I was hoping my nails would come out looking like the color the bottle presents.
This is by a window with a partially cloudy sky.  Serious Visible Nail Line!  So this one, probably, would do best as an overlay.

Now, on to the toes.  OMG...I'm not even going to embarrass myself by adding a different picture.  This one is just bad enough.
Seriously, I need to spend a few dollars and get a PEDICURE!!!  These poor toes need some TLC and this polish didn't help one bit.  Booo!

Milani is one of my favorite makeup lines.  It's edgy and wild and....affordable.
This polish is called 2.0.  I love it.  And the color in the bottle is a deep lavender-ish gray that flashes silver.  I found this polish to be super thick.  I wonder if I got an old bottle?  Hmmm...because Milani polishes of the past haven't been this thick.  So once I put it on my toes, it just became gloppy.  The nails themselves do need to be buffed out.  And the picture shows a terrible attempt of clean-up.  Again, the color in the bottle did not translate to the nail like I would have hoped.  Probably will look way better on my hands.

Got any polishes you've tried and didn't end up so great on your nails?  What ones have disappointed you?  Leave your comments...I'm still just starting and would love to hear from you.

Purple Glitter Toes & Need For A Pedicure

The pictures are a dead giveaway that I have not gotten a pedicure in a long time.  Like months.  This nail girl isn't giving her toes and feet the attention they really deserve.

When I tried on these colors, I had just recently had my fingernails done with the previous Pure Ice Outrageous that I posted about.  There was no way I wanted to mess up that professionally done manicure.  So I asked my husband to remove the former toe polish off for me.  Good grief!  The man is book smart, but he isn't worth diddly for doing a simple task of removing toe polish!  Truly, I had to bark out commands.  Methinks he really is smart and by doing a crappy job knows I'll never ask him to do THAT again.

Before I change my polish MYSELF!!!, I wanted to show a swatch of the toe polish.  I used Love & Beauty from Forever 21 (grrr...curses to the person that turned me onto Forever 21! Never had been in the store until I read about it in a blog).  The miniature-sized bottle was part of a collection of miniature sizes along with lip glosses to match.  No name for this frosty purple color. (I always thought it would be fun to come up with polish names, so, this one shall be called 'Purple Haze')  It went on very thin and I have on 4 coats.  Then I topped it with a Love & Beauty purple glitter (no name, but I grant thee 'All A Flutter').  This no name polish coated thin too.  What's in the bottle looks much darker than how it presents.  I used Seche Clear for the top coat.
I forgot to mention I 'tested' a Sally Hansen color on my second right toe.

Instead of splurging on nail polish, I should get that pedicure!  Poor, neglected toes.  They need love and attention too, you know.

Do you tend to your toes better than I do?  What colors do you like on your toes?  Do you think your toes are pretty or cute?  Comment away!

Do Something Outrageous

Pure Ice has some creamy foil colors that run the rainbow spectrum.  And I like the look of foils.  However, they are not the friendliest polishes to use.  I have found that they can be streaky or bubbly, or both.  This one is both.

Outrageous is a silvery lavender color.  The picture of my hand, in the sunlight, gives its truest match to how it looks in the flesh.

                                                   Here it is in sunlight.
Oh, the font color matches my nails!  ;)
Here it is in defused sunlight.
Again, in defused sunlight, just a different window.

The polish has curled up along the edges.  I'm not sure why that happened.  And the pinky has a smudge mark that has gone unnoticed until I took a super macro picture of it.

Outrageous is a pretty color.  It just shows too many flaws.  These nails have an OPI base coat and a mystery top coat.  I also put 2 Seche Tops on then, topped it all off with Quick & Slick Ultimate top coat.

I had this manicure done professionally.  And, just to let you know, I am a newly, reformed cuticle biter.  I mean NEWLY.  Like just 4 weeks ago.  I have tried lots and lots of things for over 40 years to try to stop this habit of biting and picking on my cuticles.  OMG!  I can't believe I just admitted '40 years'!  Anyhoo, I had never gone over two days without resorting back to ruining them after the nicest manicure.  What was different about this time?  Hmmmm...I'm really not sure.  Maybe reading incisively lots of nail blogs?  Wanting to write my own nail blog?

And this is one of the least desirable times in my life to undertake trying to break this habit.  But I'll take it!!!  After the second week, I had already invested enough time that I knew it had 'taken.'  So with 4 weeks, I'm doubly committed to keeping my digits out of my mouth.  Did I just say '40 YEARS!?'  To say the least, I'm proud of my accomplishment that has eluded me for so long.  So, my dear readers, be gentle with me on how my cuticles appear.  OK? :)

Have you been a former nail biter?  What did you do to stop biting?  What do you think when you see someone biting their nails?
