Finger Paint's Special Effects Top Coats-FOUND!

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 12/17/2011 08:47:00 PM 0 comments
When my friend, Alli, tweeted, yesterday, that she found these...
at a Sally's close by her, I couldn't sleep! I was up early the next day (dear gawd, and it was a Saturday!), got my run in, showered, dressed and out the door I went!

Here's the poop...these babies are to be released in January...like, next year, 2012. For some reason, which I didn't ask because I wanted to get mine first, this particular Sally's store had made the excellent, and favorable, decision to put them out for sale. Even when I paid for these Finger Paints, the sales woman stated that they were out early and she had to put in another code so the register would 'take' it. All I could choke out was 'Oh!' I think I was actually having a panic attack getting them because I was afraid some mean Sally's worker was going to come out of the back room and scream 'You can't have those yet! Give 'em back!' I didn't feel safe until I got in my car and locked the doors. Then, I took them out of the bag and drooled all over them.

To anyone else, they may look the same. But to us, nail polish enthusiasts, do we NOT know better???!!!!

This is 'Flecked'. I'm not even going to pretend I know what this flakie color is. Well, I know it's WORRRRD!!

And, this one is 'Motley'. I know what a 'Motley Crew' is but why were they using it to name a polish? Googled it:

adjective

1. exhibiting great diversity of elements; heterogeneous (composed of parts of different kinds; having widely dissimilar elements or constituents): a motley crowd.
2. being of different colors combined; parti-colored: a motley flower border.
3. wearing a parti-colored garment: a motley fool.

noun
4. a combination of different colors.
5. a parti-colored effect.
6. the parti-colored garment of a jester.
7. a heterogeneous assemblage.
8. a medley.

Now I get it!

I have a couple more for ya...
This is 'Flashy'. I want to say a great, big 'DUH' to that one!

The last one I have to show is 'Asylum'. Wow, I'm sufficiently blown away.

They didn't have 'Twisted' so I will be looking forward to nabbing that one for the complete collection.  And, at the moment, I am working on applying a dark green from China Glaze to show these off. I can hardly wait!!! But I want these to look out of this world!!!

In the meantime, if you'd like to see them swatched, click over here to my friend, Nail Polish MD's blog and she'll show you the awesomely over-the-top flaky top coat wonderland.

No one else wants these, right????

China Glaze and Finger Paints Haul from Sally's

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 11/02/2011 08:45:00 PM 0 comments
I'm finalizing my Holiday trip to Denver and am so excited I can't concentrate. Yes, I'm THAT easily distracted.

But I did stop in to Sally's when the lovely Store Manager gave me a call to say the Holiday collections for China Glaze and Finger Paints was in. I went there before seeing any clients today. I have my priorities very much in line. Baaahaaahaa!

Here's the haul...

China Glaze has a mini four-pack and they had the very polishes I wanted. I'm looking forward to experimenting with 'Twinkle Lights'. I think my toes want some Holiday cheer too.

Here are the three Finger Paints polishes I selected...

I wasn't able to capture the super-duper coolness of 'Sparkle Top Coat.' It's a shimmery, pink iridescent color.

A few more China Glaze polishes...

Oh, geez...'Snow Globe'!!!! Looks like a glitter sammich manicure. I think all other future polishes, that are lined up to be swatched, have been bumped by 'Snow Globe.' I think I'll sleep with it under my pillow tonight.

I set up China Glaze's 'Ring in the Red' next to Finger Paint's 'Santa Kisses'...
Very similar and I wasn't going to get 'Santa Kisses' because they look so close. But my good conscience didn't want me to miss an opportunity to do a comparison review. If I follow your blog and you do a comparison, I'm usually going to comment that comparison posts are my favorite. Stick around for my red glitter comparison post.

Shea Butter is one of my favorite types of skincare ingredient. Sally's plans on selling cases of this brand. They had about 5 cases stacked out in front of the register. I bit...

It smells nice without being overly fragrant.

And, now tell me...who could resist these cuties? Only a stone-cold Scrooge...

The joyous little kids remind me of the dancing kids from Charlie Brown's Christmas Show. Sweet...ahhhh.

That's today's loot. Fun Winter Holiday Stuff!

What Holiday beauty items are you looking forward to?

Summertime Banarama Split

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 7/04/2010 07:24:00 PM 4 comments
It may be a good problem to have, but I think I need a better way of tracking polishes I have purchased, need to swatch, swatched and have blogged about.  I think I spent about 30 minutes checking to make sure I haven't blogged about this one before and then looking for the photos I had taken.  If I've done this one before, well then, enjoy my rerun!

About 2 months ago, Sally's had two new collections of Savvy in.  And, these two had a lot of new colors.  I can't believe I only got 4!  I was careful that I didn't get the same colors twice...but I still did. Ha ha! Some upcoming giveaway winner will profit on that one!

Here's one that I did pick up: Banarama.  Not like bananarama.
This polish reminds be of a lemonade slushie.  It's a pale yellow with a yellow shimmer.  And I mean SHIMMER! Only the most uptight workplace would find this inappropriate. ;) It isn't a screamer. It's much more of a demure, spectacular shimmer.  But you can see from my photos, taken outdoors, just how shimmery this fun color is.
This, actually, may be my first ever yellow polish. It seems to have been a color I avoided because I didn't want my nails to look like I smoke 2 packs a day.  But, not going to happen with this friendly yellow.
This photo does a very good job of showing off the color.
Here it is in the sunny window.  Just so CUTE!!!  It was rather sheer, as I expected it to be.  But this is my mani with BS, 1 coat Seche Clear, 2 color, 1 Seche Clear and 1 Seche Vite. The brush isn't anything special and neither is the top.  They are not 'perfect,' nor 'meh,' but just right.  Hmmmm....could this be the color Goldilocks likes?
Again, in the sunny window, Banarama looks half way decent on me. Not what I was expecting.  But then, I love pleasant surprises!!

Do you wear yellow polish? If so, what's your favorite? I might want to try it too. What was your last pleasant surprise?
