Glow In the Dark Nail Drama

How could I not to this post and NOT think of Jen at The PolishAholic? She swatched all the China Glaze Halloween polishes AND gave me the willies about a spider in the mix. *shivers*

I wonder if there is a glow in the dark crackle out there? In the meantime, I did this...

I picked up both China Glaze's 'Ghoulish Glow' and OPI's 'Black Shatter' at Ulta. I just happened to have picked up China Glaze's Halloween polishes recently, though.

I have on 3 coats of 'Ghoulish Glow' then the one coat of 'Black Shatter.' Both polishes dry matte. Here, I put on a coat of Seche Vite...

I didn't shatter my right hand and even though it is obvious as that one single, huge, red zit that invades my face every so often, no one said a word about this...

Now, I don't want to plant visions or heebie geebies on you, unlike Jen did to me...So, I will tell you that I tested out the glow in the dark in my closet and tried REALLY hard not to think of spiders...

See....I did it without any fear.

No, wait!!! That's just a loose hair that you feel on the back of your neck and on your bare arm. Don't be so goosy!!!

OPI's Rally Pretty Pink Takes the Court with Red Shatter

It was time to have some fun with Pink...

Did you pick up the OPI duo from the Serena Williams collection, 'Rally Pretty Pink' with 'Red Shatter'?

So, it IS a different sort of pink...

However, I. am. loving. it.

Purply-pinky glittery stuff.

I could have stopped right there too. But I was way curious to see what the 'Red Shatter' would do...

Gee, whiz!!!

Frankly, I am surprised at how well these complimented each other. Or, maybe I should say, they complimented each other better than I expected. I never question OPI's collections not working together, however. So I was delightfully surprised that I liked this VERY much.

Purple, Pretty Please

A second life for 'Alter Ego,' which I showed in my last post...

'Alter Ego' has to have other sides. I went to explore them. Also, I have sort of a fetish with all these shatter and crackle effects. I didn't get into them the last time they trended. I didn't even know about them! Looks like I'm going to be able to this time around and, in a plethora of brands and colors.

 

So, here is a shatter on 'Alter Ego.' This is OPI's 'Silver Shatter' from their current 'Pirates of the Caribbean' collection. 'Silver Shatter' makes you work fast. Put it on and quickly move onto the next nail. Don't fuss with it!

Next, is a crackle.  This is Sally Hansen's 'Vintage Violet'...

 

I found 'Vintage Violet' to be a thicker polish but it did allow time to easily apply before it took affect. And, maybe the thicker coat made for large chunks of the crackle.

I can't pick which one I like best; they are both awesome...

 'Vintage Violet's top was on super tight. I had to pull out the muscles to get it opened. And when I finally did...ut oh...

Poor thing is brush challenged. That made application a bit more tricky. Luckily, I like the color well enough to get over it.

Mardi Gras Mani Madness!!!

Ooh, I almost missed any part of celebrating Mardi Gras!  Well, if I insist on a few more days of celebration, Universal Studios carries the theme til April 23.

This is one of those designs I have swirling around in my brain looking for a way to manifest.  Here's what I used as my inspiration...

This is a pin I got when I was working in Louisiana, one year, during Mardi Gras.  I didn't GO to Mardi Gras but I was around New Orleans while it was being celebrated.  In many of my travels, I will purchase a piece of jewelry to remember the event or the place.  I have had this pin for about 10 years and still wear it during Mardi Gras.

The color scheme is yellow, green and purple.  And I added in OPI's Black Shatter to the look...

Here's Cosmetic Arts' creme yellow, BB Couture's 'Caterpillar', Cosmetic Art's creme purple and the OPI Black Shatter. 

Send them to a party and this is what they come up with...

Mardi Gras Mani Madness!!!

I painted on the colors in a diagonal stripe alternating directions on each finger.  After drying, I put on a layer of Shatter.  I liked it so much, I had to run over to my hubs and show it off.  I got the gratuitous 'oh, ah, yes!' from him.

Well, I think it's cute! I just wish I would have thought of it last night instead of tonight.  I'm still going to wear it tomorrow.  No one handed me a rule book!

Last weekend was the 70th anniversary of the Daytona Bike Week.  My hubs and I went as he had never been before.  And we had a blast.  Here's the thumb ring I got to commemorate the event...
