Cult Nails: Princess From The Fairy Tale Collection

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 6/23/2012 09:27:00 PM 0 comments
Every little girl wants to grow up and be a princess. Except for me. I wanted to be a scientist and look through microscopes. However, now, I think it is OK to say I would like to be a princess. A rich princess. With lots of makeup and nail polish. And a huge closet full of Princess clothing.

In the meantime, I can have the nails of a princess with Cult Nails 'Princess' from the new Fairy Tale collection...

Princesses are stereo-typed as being spoiled. I did have to spoil this 'Princess' a bit. This polish dries very quickly. She isn't one to fuss around. Applying the polish is your job and you must get right to it.

I have three coats here because I was working on smoothing out the look. I still ended up with making patchy areas. Don't let this turn you away from 'Princess', however. This is a beautiful polish! No top coat needed for this one...

What looks like an innocent, soft blue, there is a pleasant surprise of magenta shimmer to this one. The blue doesn't seem to have a high gloss itself, however, the magenta shimmer gives it a reflective glimmer.

You can not only be a Princess, but you can have 'Princess' nails by ordering your Fairy Tale collection from Cult Nails. This is the last polish from the collection for me to review. If you'd like you can click the names and see my reviews of the rest of the collection: Evil Queen with Happy Ending; Feelin' Froggy; Charming with Happy Ending.

If you are a long-time reader, you will know that Libby is the real Princess at the Vanity. But, her new 'sister' is quite a sweetie as well. Kayla has NO pretentious airs at all. After I took these photos of Kayla, she got her tummy 'nom nom'ed...

Cult Nails: Nevermore One-Coat Black Creme Polish

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 6/21/2012 06:44:00 PM 0 comments
Give me a creme polish and I'll, eventually, look for a way to get glitter on it...
This is a one coat black creme....seriously!!! Maria, owner and creator of, Cult Nails has done what no one else could; make a one-coat black creme. Kari, from Once Bitten Blog, came up with the PERFECT name too: 'Nevermore'. I wore 'Nevermore' for two days before playing with glitter. So, as you may notice, there is hardly any tip wear. 'Nevermore' is so shiny that I didn't even need a top coat either.

Before I removed 'Nevermore', I did four glitter effects on each hand...

On my right hand, I used: NK Nail Enamel in 'Magical' (thumb); Orly in 'It's A Meteor' (index finger); Cult Nails in 'Captivated' (middle finger); Wet 'n Wild in 'Bow In My Presence' (ring finger); and my pinky is bare.

Now on my left hand...

Starting with my thumb: Cult Nails in 'Happy Ending' (thumb); Orly in 'Be Brave' (index finger); China Glaze in 'Luxe and Lush' (middle finger); ring finger is bare; love & beauty in 'Clear/Silver' (pinky). I like how the sunlight bounced off 'Happy Ending'.

Years ago, when I wore black nail polish, I was so 'goth' about it. It seemed deviant. But today, I don't think anyone thinks twice about seeing it or wearing it. At least for me, I didn't notice anyone pulling their children away from being around me.

Want to wear a one-coat black creme proudly? You can order yours at Cult Nails. And you can order 'Happy Ending' and 'Captivated', that I used, as well.

Do you take a walk on the wild side...wear black nail polish?

Cult Nails: Feelin' Froggy From The Fairy Tale Collection

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 6/16/2012 08:52:00 PM 0 comments
If you haven't given Cult Nails a try, now is a good time. Their new Fairy Tale collection has just been released. And what is a Fairy Tale without there being a frog around?...

'Feelin' Froggy' is the green for the summer. It's a medium green shade but has a lighter green shimmer inside.
I have three coats on and topped it off with Famous Name's 'Lumos' top coat.

The photo above did the best of capturing that shimmer. Cool, eh? Like a summer cocktail-cool!

'Feelin' Froggy' went on sooooo smoothly which is exactly what Cult Nails polishes are known for. And, I did a lot of hand labor during the week I wore this and I was extremely happy that this green stayed on so well. It didn't......wait for it......croak!!!!

Cult Nails: Evil Queen and Happy Ending

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 6/08/2012 09:52:00 PM 0 comments
My favorite stories are fairy tales. Ever since I could read, I love reading them over and over.

At the heart of many fairy tales are evil queens and step-mothers. Kind of makes it hard to take on the role of being a step-mother, in my opinion!

However, these is one nail company that is getting a good reputation: Cult Nails. This company's customer service is top-notch. They are a true grass-roots business. And the part that everyone who tries Cult Nails knows-it delivers.

The newest collection is called the Fairy Tale Collection. I reviewed 'Charming' and 'Happy Ending' here. Next up is 'Evil Queen' with her 'Happy Ending'.

First, the 'Evil Queen' stands alone...

This is a very wicked red. It's not a blue-red but not a tomato red. Cult Nails created a red that is right in between. And, that makes this a red that suits practically all skin tones.

Take a look at 'Evil Queen' with my cool undertone skin...

This is a drop-dead red. Even on a cloudy photo day, this red was beaming.

Long nails and red polish. That's my kind of all-out look for wearing nail polish. I have applied a top coat of Lumos High Speed Top Coat.

Want to see how I tweaked it up a notch? I gave the 'Evil Queen' a 'Happy Ending'...

And I do want to add, this is one coat of 'Happy Ending' over two coats of 'Evil Queen'. I didn't have to 'fish' out any of the shards of colorful glitter. Hey, they wanted a Happy Ending!!
Both 'Evil Queen' and 'Happy Ending' dried super fast. So fast, that I didn't have any time to gouge or nick my nails. Ah, now that's MY Happy Ending!

Cult Nails: Charming and Happy Ending From The Fairy Tale Collection

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 6/01/2012 08:18:00 PM 1 comments
Happy June!!! The newest collection from Cult Nails is soon to be released. This one is called the Fairy Tale collection. I adore the shades in this collection because they remind me of one of my new, favorite shows: Once Upon A Time.

Here are the first two that I tried...

This is 'Charming' and 'Happy Ending'.

If you like lavender or a soft purple, you will be charmed by 'Charming'. This polish has just a hint of magenta flash to it. You have to look deep to see it but it is what gives 'Charming' its special spell. I have on three coats here. And man, Cult Nails dries so fast for me. Good thing because I can't sit still.

And, adding onto that with a 'Happy Ending', well, it couldn't get any more perfect...

'Happy Ending' is like nothing I have or, have seen. It's flakies that look like shards of colored glass. And these pieces lay down flat, no roughness. I didn't have to go fishing for them either. Joy! Happy Ending!

Look forward to seeing the rest of the collection as I will be swatching them as well. But, don't wait on me; go to Cult Nails and order your collection today.

Don't you love fairy tale collections?

Whimsical Kool-Aid Manicure

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 1/02/2012 06:01:00 PM 0 comments
Who doesn't want glitter nail polish??? I'm giving away two prizes for the stuff! Enter here.

Revlon's 'Whimsical' polish is the newest polish to cause a ruckus...

It's funky-looking to me. But, in a cool way. 'Whimsical' has this milky-blue base with a scattering of pink and teal colored hex glitter. There's teal regular glitter in there too. What a unique soup of polish. Well, I understand that it is a 'dupe' of another high-end polish. However, this is a mixture that is totally new to me.

Since I find 'Whimsical' to be on the thin side, I wanted to pair it up with a base color that would show it off. I picked a favorite polish of mine, Cult Nail's 'My Kind of Cool Aid'. 'Whimsical' muted down the gray/lavender of 'MKOCA' just a bit, but I don't think it took away any of the charisma of either polish.

I used 2 coats of 'MKOCA' and two coats of 'Whimsical.' Darn sparse glitter!!! Y U No come off on nail!!!
I first tested 'Whimsical' out on an old OPI mini to see if I could make my nail line disappear. It worked, but I wanted something with a bit more character. That's why I went to 'My Kind of Cool Aid'.

Even with the unevenness of my nail length, I still got a compliment on them. And that was at Walmart, of all places! That young lady was paying attention. :)

Have you been able to find 'Whimsical'?
