The Evil Step-Mother's Green Apple

There's a polish that looks juicy and inviting, however, it's a little green apple from the evil step-mother...

This is Sinful Color's 'Irish Green.'  Yes, it is bright but golly, I have on 4 coats and I am nowhere near getting rid of the VNL!!  Since this is paired up with their 'Ocean Green' at Walgreens, maybe it is to help hide the fact that 'Irish Green' is watery.

I have Olan Lab's 'Quick and Slick' on as the top coat.  'Irish Green' turned rather matte after it dried.

Hooray!  The lilies in the backyard are blooming!  I will 'fess right up that I 'borrowed' this flower pose from Diana at 'Painted Lady Fingers.'   When you check out her blog, you'll see what using nature as props is all about.  Not only does she have a keen eye of nature, but she has a sense of prose that will wrap you right into her world.

As for me...

I can see the possibilities of 'Irish Green' but it just didn't give me what I wanted.

My grandfather had green apple trees.  He'd pick one off for us, cut it in pieces with his pocket knife, salt the pieces and share them with us grandkids.  Those green apples tasted the very best. :)

I think before I move on to another mani, I'm going to put 'Ocean Green' over this one.

Lime Vs. Chartreuse

I don't consider myself a morning person.  I like to stay up late and get up late.  But the early morning light on my patio is just awesome for nail photos.

These first two photos are taken in my home office.  It has a Northern exposure and it can be really kind for photos too.  I so wanted to capture the super micro-glitter in Love & Beauty's 'Lime'. 

The top one is from my office window, which I call my 'sunny window.'  The next is a Florida, sunny morning shot.

I have on 4 coats for 'Lime.'  It was watery but then, I expected that.  I do lower my expectations purchasing a $2.80 bottle of polish at Forever 21.  The color is way more vibrant on the nail than in the bottle.  And, I'm OK with that.  If I saw a lime this color, I wouldn't purchase it because I'd figure it wasn't ripe yet.  However, Chartreuse is a much better moniker for this polish.  This is an out and out Chartreuse color.  I had two strangers tell me that it was bright.  I noted they didn't say it was pretty, just that it was bright.

I did put a coat of Nailene's Miracle Maker on as the top coat.  Sadly, 'Lime' doesn't photo well enough to show you the true level of sparkle it has.  I'm fairly fair, but I think someone with a good tan could really rock this color.  I think someone would need to be patient enough to endure at least 4 or more coats because I can still see visible nail line on my hands.

Do you like Chartreuse?  Would you have to use spell check to get the right spelling like I had to?  LOL  Anyone green with envy over this color?

Time to Get Flaky

A prisoner spent years digging a tunnel out of his cell to freedom. Finally, he completed his tunnel and he jumped out. Giddy with excitement, he skipped around yelling 'I'm Free! I'm Free!' Unknown to him, he had emerged onto a playground. Upon hearing his cheers for joy a little boy replied 'So what? I'm four!'

OK, groan all you want but you can tell that joke to your grandma!

Shiver me Shamrocks!  I read about this one on Noveau Cheap's blog.  When she likened it to Sally Hansen's runaway cult favorite, 'Hidden Treasure,' there was no stopping that huge lemming!  This is Sinful Color's 'Green Ocean.'  If I understand correctly, this isn't a new shade but, a re-release.  I'm happy with that because, I didn't know about it the first time around.

I couldn't wait to try this one out.  I layered it over the manicure I swatched for you, on March 1, 'Venomous' by Claire's.  All by itself, 'Venomous' was da bomb!  How dare I think I could make it 'better'...

You don't have to agree with me, but I think I did!  Ooh, now that I'm drooling looking at this, I should have done one nail with 'Hidden Treasure' to compare.  This is a flaky that I think I have to talk you into having!

I put on 2 coats but 1 would have sufficed...

'Green Ocean' loves to play in the sunlight.

Even though I did this look in honor of St. Patrick's Day, I will be revisiting 'Green Ocean' again, soon.

I did put Seche Vite on to shine it up a bit. 'Green Ocean' tends to dull out after it dries.  Don't let that stop you from getting a bottle for yourself.  Good gracious, it's only $1.99 at Walgreen's!  Interestingly enough, I got 3 bottles...for some reason...or another.  I picked up 'Irish Green,' a bright, green creme that was the second half of the Sinful Colors display.

Let me say, loud and very clear, No. Buyer's. Remorse.

Will you be getting 'Green Ocean?'  If you say no, I have to know why not!!?  :)

Holy Holo Gracious Green Polish

Kim, owner of Overall Beauty, tweeted that she had read, older women wear green polish to look/feel younger.  I promptly told her BALDERDASH!!  Green is for everyone!

 I took LOTS of photos of this one because I LOVE it so much I'd marry it if I wasn't already hitched.  That doesn't stop me from having an affair/love-fest with it!  This is Kleancolor's 'Holo Green.'

Don't even think about taking this green holographic polish away from me!  Partially, all the photo-taking was because I love this one.  If I had to wear only one green for the month, it would be this one.

I only did 2 coats on my ring and pinky fingers to show you how really sheer this polish is.  And on the other digits, I have 4 coats.  'Holo Green' was incredibly easy to use.  And this brand makes thick brushes so that's a large part of that.  I put on one coat of Nailene's 'Miracle Maker' as a top coat.

I think it's a jelly as well.  Now, as beautiful as this polish is, and I got 2 compliments wearing it, it is a pistol to remove.  If you decide to purchase this brand and try their holos, get Zoya's 'Remove+' and you won't have to say a single cuss word.

It's sad that the photos don't show you the truly awesomesauce of bling this polish has.  There is all the green sparkle you can imagine right here.

Although it is a lighter color, the holo effect doesn't diminish.  I feel lucky to have stumbled onto finding this.  I got it at a newly-opened beauty supply store, along with several other jelly holos. :)

I'm Lucky To Be Irish

Happy March 1st!  I have a lot happening this month, how about you?

I'm going to share a lot of green polishes and makeup with you through St. Patrick's Day.  I align myself with my Irish heritage.  I have German and Scottish blood as well.  However, I look so Irish and love all that is Irish, that it seems the dominant lineage for me.

And, I sometimes do get a bit of the luck of the Irish!  I felt lucky when I finally purchased this lemming...

Can you hear it screaming 'DUOCHROME!!'  You betcha!  This is Claire's 'Venomous.'  I'm taking it to be a play on MAC's Venomous Villains collection.  Did you notice that all the villains were women?  That didn't seem fair.

Anyhoo...I found this to be one fascinating and interesting shade.  It makes me think of a fly's eye color.

Does it want to be green?  Does it want to be purple?  How about both.

I have 3 coats of color followed by a coat of Seche Vite from a brand, new bottle!  Yea, that's always a 'yippie' feeling to start a new bottle of Seche Vite!  I thought I had picked up the Seche Clear at first because it wasn't a thick, goopy mess.

Just a bit of bubbling going on.  That's on me, though.  The third coat came on too soon.  Nevertheless, I loved wearing 'Venomous.'  I had some (nice) fun at my husband's expense with this shade.  He's the only audience I have to blatantly show off my new manis to.  He plays the ever-supportive role and oh's and ah's on cue.  I asked him 'what color is this?'  Poor man is blue/green color-blind.  He couldn't say what color it looked like.  I asked 'Green?'  I asked 'Purple?'  The ever-a-politician answer was 'I guess.'  I delighted in telling him he was right; it's all those colors!  Are we not just the most exciting pair?

Although it is not an out-and-out green, it starts off a foray into the Luck of the Irish fest.  I just realized that the myth about St. Patrick's Day has to do with St. Patrick driving the snakes out of Ireland; snakes; venomous; get it?  OK, I groaned too.
