Sinful Color's Greek Isles; I'm Ready For An Exotic Vacation

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 4/25/2012 08:46:00 PM 0 comments
Sinful Colors came out, this Spring, with a collection called Cast Away. I really did like very single shade too. I wasn't expecting to like this one, but I do...

'Greek Isles' is a light turquoise shade. I put it into the same shade family as a 'Tiffany Blue'. I know it isn't exactly like that, I just use that as a reference.
What a fine creme this is. And, the interesting thing is I don't like those 'Tiffany Blue' shades. Well, I have to back track now, don't I?
My camera makes me very happy that this photo is very close to what 'Greek Isles' looks like in real life. So, even in the sun it looks great. And, in the shade...
Just sign me up for a relaxing vacation on the Greek Isles. I have already packed my nail polish!

This is three coats and I have a top coat of Sally Hansen's 'Teflon Tuff' Extra Strength Nail Protector. I'll say it again, normally I don't care for this shade. However, this one just clicks.

How do you feel about polishes this shade? Do you love 'em or hate 'em?

Sinful Colors: Olympia and The Naked Athletes

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 4/13/2012 06:54:00 PM 0 comments
Sinful Colors recently released a spring collection called Cast Away. This is the pastel green from that collection..

This is called 'Olympia'. Mount Olympus is the home to the Greek gods and goddesses. If you have read the myths, you might realize that Mount Olympus is sort of like a legendary 'Big Brother' reality show. DRAMA!!!

In the present day, Olympia is the founding location for the Olympics. The first games were preformed in the nude. In today's world, no one could afford the TV commercial airtime for something that popular.

Sooooo....let's just see how yummy this cucumber shake is...

Cremes looking pretty on me is elusive. Not the shade, but the application. I didn't have that issue with 'Olympia'.

I have 3 coats on and I topped it off with Sally Hansen's Teflon Tuff extra strength nail protector (something I got from my Mom).

For not being keen on pastels, I really like this light green a lot. Doesn't this shade make you think of Easter eggs?

Here's Kayla. She took no time in adjusting to her new home. She's as content as can be...
I think the big, black spot on her tummy is a target for rubs.

I Spy Wet 'n Wild and Sinful Colors at Walgreens 3/19

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 3/21/2012 07:18:00 PM 0 comments
My sarcastic words of wisdom will have to wait. My USB ports aren't working on my computer. They worked yesterday, though. I'm sure there is some karma in that but I haven't figured it out yet.

Did you enter for my birthday giveaway? If not, you'll get left out. Go here and enter, K?

Luckily, I spied some stuff on Monday at Walgreens to share with you. Hee heee!

Any time you find a combo set of Wet 'n Wild, it usually has pieces that were sold separately before. A company will do this because they have overstock and packaging it this way allows them to, hopefully, still make a profit. However, I do not think I have seen those eye shadows before. Maybe someone will post a comment and let me know. I know I don't have the shadow set in the Flora Collection.

And, if you are looking for more Wet 'n Wild deals, I have this for you...
I didn't look over this display very hard. Looking quickly, I didn't see anything new, to me. But the price is very good if you are looking to add to your Wet 'n Wild stash.

This display is called a 'sidekick' display. It's hung on the side of an endcap, or the shelves at the end of an aisle. Walgreens does this a lot. And when Wet 'n Wild has these, they usually are in a cardboard shadow box, just like the one you see here. What store associates like about them is that they come pre-loaded. That means all the pieces are already in place. They just pull this display out of the shipper box and hang it up. When the display sells down, they just take down the box and throw it away.

I read that Sinful Colors had a collection of lip glosses out. And, I am glad to have spotted it...
I was dashing into Walgreens to look for the Sinful Colors collection called 'Girls in Pearls'. I found them and just did a quick run-through looking for other new stuff. That's why I didn't get close-ups of these. As far as for me, I bet I can match up everyone of these beauties to something identical in my gloss drawer at home. Let me say that these are sexy glosses and I encourage you to check them out.

And lately, I have been spying more and more chameleons. Look at her, she is wearing neutral makeup...at the moment. Ha!

Sinful Colors Puts In A Little Secret With Pandora

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 3/19/2012 08:20:00 PM 0 comments
Tomorrow starts another decade for me. Whoop-de-do. But, the good news is that you and four others can win some nifty prizes. Jump over here and enter.

Gosh, I haven't even swatched all of Sinful Color's Cast Away collection and they have a new one out. I went hunting today but didn't find it. However, if you want to see what I'm talking about, check out Polish Fixation's blog.

And there is a new China Glaze duochrome collection coming out soon too! Eeps! I need to get through my Hunger Games collection!

Quick, take a look at this fab one from Sinful Colors...

Aptly named 'Pandora'. That is exactly what I opened up when I decided to become a beauty blogger. However, at the bottom of my Pandora box was a group of friends I never would have met if it hadn't been for blogging. Thank you!!!

If you don't know the story of Pandora, you should read it. It is one of my favorites from Greek mythology. And if you ever hear someone make the statement, 'You've opened Pandora's Box', then you'll learn what that means. (Not to mention that Pandora.com is one of the top best reasons for the Internet and radio.)

This shade is amazing...
I'll say it is a softened, pastel orange. I don't have a top coat on over the 3 coats of 'Pandora' so it isn't super shiny on its own. But I totally OWN this color. It doesn't make me have lobster fingers at all (accentuating the red tones in my skin). And I think I know the secret...

'Pandora' isn't a creme. If you look super close, you will see shimmers of magenta in it. In the last photo, with totally blown-out lighting, I almost fake the look of a magenta shimmer in the reflections. 'Pandora' is very, very sneaky.

And, I like this shade soooo much. Why are all these new shades so incredibly gorgeous that I want to wear them for a long time!?? Do you think you'll like this one too?

It's so sweet and kind when people ask me how Kayla is doing. She is doing splendidly. She loves her new home and family. As much as she wants to play with Libby and Sebastian, they are still not quite sure about it. However, they do play chase back and forth down the hall. And knowing that Kayla is finally able to run and sit in the sun and be loved every day and any moment she wants it, shows me just a little bit of good in the world that I made for her. I must say that Kayla loves her Mommy. And I am totally in love with her too.

Sinful Color's Cast Away In The Grecian Sun

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 3/15/2012 08:50:00 PM 1 comments
Keeping up with the new collections can be difficult. I fall in love with the one I am wearing and don't want to move on to the next swatch. This is exactly what happened with this Sinful Colors polish from the Cast Away collection. Check out 'Grecian Sun'...

This is a bright, robin's egg blue and it is to die for. Considering it's a creme, I'm really loving 'Grecian Sun'. I'm super fussy about the blue polishes I like and this one nails it. I have on 3 coats...
I tried to get away with just 2 but it was patchy, as seen on my index finger.
Then, after a couple of days, I wanted to mix it up, a bit, before moving on to another shade. This one looks more like sea than sun, though...

Can you just imagine the sun's rays reflecting off the Grecian Sea from a hot 'Grecian Sun'? I adore this look. I used China Glaze's 'Luxe and Lush' from the Hunger Games collection. I just don't think it gets any more spring-like than this...
Someday I'm going to go to Greece. And when I do, I think I'll wear something from Sinful Color's Cast Away collection. It really would be fitting.

Have you been to Greece? Did you see anything there was was the shade of 'Grecian Sun'?

Sinful Colors Cinderella Creates A Ball For Spring

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 3/12/2012 09:34:00 PM 0 comments
The weather here in Orlando has been very nice...and kind. I'm happy to move into some Spring like polishes to celebrate. Here's one I recently did...

Light teal or turquoise colors are not my favorite at all. Could be that they look ghastly on me. However, I think I found an exception to this. This is Sinful Colors 'Cinderella'. The most-fitting name as anyone who has seen the Walt Disney movie by the same name knows that Cinderella's ball gown was blue.

And, I can so imagine it with this polish...

'Cinderella' is a baby blue and the kicker is--it has magenta shimmer as well. Yummy!

I took a lot of photos of 'Cinderella' because I wanted to capture that shimmer. It is what 'makes' this color for me. I used 3 coats and a top coat of Color Club's Vivid top coat.

It is interesting, to me, that the first photo shows my nails in the shade. 'Cinderella' looks like a cool blue color. Then the near photo, it looks like a turquoise shade with green undertones, with direct sunlight. Well, it's easy to see how this could happen because if you take blue and red, or pink as we have here, and mixed them together, that is going to make a green.

In real life, I couldn't get enough of this pretty polish. And, although I love the story of Cinderella (I posted here about one of my favorite movies, Ever After), I don't like the idea that a woman's life is improved because she found a man to take her away from 'it all'. But, a woman can break out of a bad environment and find a better life, and I like that meaning best of all.

Have you found Sinful Colors 'Cinderella' yet? Don't you agree that it is totally a Spring color?

Sinful Color's Zeus Is A Gift From The Gods, Themselves

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 3/08/2012 07:07:00 PM 0 comments
When I was in second grade, I read about Greek mythology and I was hooked! One of my top 10 favorite movies is the original 'Clash of the Titans'. This makes Sinful Colors new Spring collection, Cast Away, even more special to me.

The god of the gods, 'Zeus', is a grand polish shade...

'Zeus' is a lilac purple color with a magenta shimmer. I think I could wear this polish all spring long, I love it that much.

I have on three coats and that was just the right amount to make it fabulous...
I used Color Club's 'Vivid' as a top coat and went to town lookin' fresh and spring-y. I had no issues at all with applying this polish and removal was easy. It wore well for the 2 days I had it on too.

I like my nails at this length. It's long and I'm able to, reasonably, wear them like this. Plus, I'm on a 'no bite or pick' mode again. I should get a poster of my nails when they look good and use that as incentive. :) Wearing 'happy' polishes like 'Zeus' works wonders. It's a gift from the gods.

I'm reading positive comments on the blogosphere about Sinful Color's Cast Away collection. Do you have any or is there a favorite shade you want to get?

I Spy...Sally Hansen Greens & Cast Away Sinful ColorsWalgreens

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 2/22/2012 06:43:00 PM 0 comments
Green polish at WalGREENS! (Insert a PeeWee Herman laugh.)

This past Saturday I went on a mission to find the new Cast Away Collection by Sinful Colors. I did find that collection and, I found some St. Patrick's Day greens from Sally Hansen.
Just a note, I found a St. Patrick's Day collection of Sinful Colors. I don't believe any of these are new shades but 'Atlantis' is one to get! That's a flaky green and it a favorite of mine.

This Go Green collection from Sally Hansen was a surprise to me. I didn't know about it previously...
I will be going back for a couple of these. There wasn't a sale going on last week, nor with week, at Walgreens. I think I'll wait til next Sunday and see. Sally Hansen is a nail brand that has sales quite often at Walgreens. I don't see me missing out on getting the ones I like. And, they are $1.99 each at their regular price.

A total of 5 greens to get your green on. The far, two right shades are the same. And I didn't compare, or check to see if these are re-issues. The two I have an eye on, however, are the 2nd and the 3rd from the left.

OK, once I peeled myself away from oogling that collection, I went on to a bit of hyperventilation when I found the Sinful Colors Cast Away collection so early in the game.

I will be showing a closer look of these in an upcoming post so you can see these in a better light. But, here is a sneak peek...
There are a total of eight shades. I got all but one tiffany-esque shade called 'Be Happy'. And, another bestest part; Walgreens had their Sinful Colors on sale for $.99; normally $1.99 each.

Which shade from Cast Away should I review first?
