Bare Minerals New Eye Primer Shadows

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 8/04/2011 08:32:00 PM 4 comments
Being a freelancer has sooo many advantages. Like making my own schedule. Well, almost 90% of the time. I am working on getting back to a 4 day work week. I like having Fridays off because it gives me just the right amount of down time to feel like I truly had time off.

That being said, I was looking at just doing some homework tomorrow. However, I got a gift certificate from one of the companies I represent and I'm gonna spend it!!! Mall, here I come!

Last time I went to work at this mall, my eye caught this...

This display was front and center at the Bare Escentials store. Confession...I moved on from Bare Minerals when I found indie mineral makeup companies. I like supporting indie companies, especially if they are ran/owned by women. And, their product is almost always better.

But, I had to get a closer look. These are eye shadow primers that are tinted/colored. There are a total of 6 different shades. I swatched some and was wooed by the slippery, smooth application. At $18 a puny tube...

It better make me look damn hot!!!!!

I picked 'Urban Nature' because it had a wicked duochrome flash....wicked....

Purple? Pink? Brown? Well, yes to all...

Very petite.

And as you may have guessed, a little will go a long way. I swatched it here, with nothing else on my lid or brow...

(That is a bit of eyeliner you see. However, that is all that is left from getting 'permanent makeup' eyeliner. Note: This doesn't 'still' permanently. But that is a whole 'nudder post!)

I wore 'Urban Nature' with mineral shadows over it the following day. Not only did they stay in place all day, but it gave a cool undertone shading to the colors. I'm dense...I didn't take a photo of the look. But, I'm shy about LOTD as I am self-conscious of the many scars I have on my face from a car accident.

So, getting back to my first point, I'm off to the mall tomorrow, gift certificate in hand, and I'm going to walk right past the Bare Escentials store. The question is...not will I walk on by but, which color do I chose this time?

You Could Get a Bad Reputation Misspelling Fuchsia

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 8/03/2011 07:35:00 PM 11 comments
Come on, tell the truth...you've done this; just opened the box and grabbed the first polish you touched and that was your one to swatch. Admit it, it's the first step in recovery and we all know, everyone does it.

There is a shopping bag right by my desk and it is full of sparkles. This makes me very happy. I showed these all here. Here's the wiener...

Kleancolor's 'Diamond Fuschia (sic).' How incredibly pretty this one is. Lots and lots of silver and fuchsia glitter. But Damn! Fuchsia is hard enough to spell and these dopes go and misspell it!

This is 2 coats and one coat of Seche Vite over the top...

I like that it is dense enough that I don't have to wear a base color. The fuchsia base gives it plenty of coverage. However, this is a thirsty glitter. I put on a good, thick coat of Seche Vite on and it just soaked right into the polish leaving the gritty feeling still there. I'm OK with that, though.

And, I know you know exactly how fun this polish was to remove. That glitter hung around like a bad reputation.

Meh...who cares? It was worth it and I knew what I was getting myself into. But, could you turn this one down?

Oh, no...not me.

Kleancolor Haul Blitz

I hope you like my new blog layout. I am in LOVE with it!!!

It's hot outside, yes. But, getting into my car after it has been sitting in a parking lot is WAY hotter! Now, imagine doing that 5 to 7 times a day...minimum. The car A/C does work but geez, I can't wait for summer to be over.

This is exactly why I try to get out early to do my projects and visit clients. I did great today and got done before noon. The last client I visited is in the same strip mall as Abradel Beauty Supply. This is my Kleancolor's headquarters. I've done some posts here and here in the past where I showed you my hauls from Abradel's.

And, after that last client, I made it my reward to see if Abradel's had anything new. How about a newly stocked Kleancolor nail polish display! Looky what I picked up...

15 shimmers, glitters and sparklies. I'm rubbing my grubby hands together right now.

Let's break these down for some good nail polish porn...

The Greens: Peaceful Heart, Diamond Green, Golden Nightmare (love this one's name)

Here's a closer look at Peaceful Heart...

And one of Golden Nightmare...

The Golds: Golden Nirvana, Gold Cavier, Tiara Gold

Check out Golden Nirvana....

And this is Gold Cavier...

Blue and Red: Blue Satin, Red Sparkle, Diamond Red

A closer peek at Blue Satin...

The Oranges: Diamond Gold, VIP, My Rightful Throne

The Pinks: Diamond Pink, Diamond Fuchsia, Pearl Beige

Pearl Beige a bit closer...

Here are the ones I got from the 'Diamond' series...

The Diamonds: Diamond Gold, Diamond Red, Diamond Pink, Diamond Fuchsia, Diamond Green

Since there was so many to pick from, I just did the ol' stick your hand in the bag and grab one. I'll show you tomorrow which one I snagged. :D

And one other cool thing, the owner of Abradel remembered me and my blog. How sweet!

Don't Wait! Get Your Halloween Stuff NOW!

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 8/01/2011 08:22:00 PM 15 comments
Amongst my travels today, I stopped at 2 CVS stores and 3 Walgreens. I didn't find any of the Wet 'n Wild products I have been longing for. But, I did find some other stuff. Also, I got some goodies at Bath and Body Works.

I saw this Sally Hansen display at Walgreens about 2 or so weeks ago...

And, I purchased 'Teal-y Cool'...

I swatched that baby right out in the parking lot before I even got into my car...

This is over a blue from Color Club's Poptsatic collection. (Damn, no names on the bottle!)

If you look at the display, there is a dark polish in the middle, next to a blue. That is 'Pumpkin Spice.'  I photographed it but, didn't buy it. I really figured I had something like that already. And, I was trying not to purchase every polish color that strikes my fancy.

That is until Scrangie swatched it on her blog. I haven't swatched this one yet, so please, click on her name/link to jump over there and be in awe.

Ohhhhhh, Halloween, why do you have to be so far away! And, by the way, Happy Lammas: celebrating the first harvest of the year, August 1.

Next, I snooped the $1 bins at Walgreens. When you were a kid, did you like to put your quarter into the candy/cheap toy machine and get a luck of the draw jawbreaker or a rub-on tattoo? Well, I get that same feeling looking through the $1bins at Walgreens.

Here's what I got for one buck...

Constant readers will know that I am a merchandiser. I get to make things look pretty in stores so you will empty your wallets be enticed to purchase. So, I get to go to malls every week. Yea, this job sucks....NOT!

I got a few of the little Fall candle samplers at Bath and Body Works last week. I loved them soooo much that I got 6 more to share with my blogger girlfriends when we had lunch. I noticed the second time I went back, they had even more fragrances. So, today I wanted to pick up some more.

Now I have a total of 6 different minis to tide me over until I get the biggies! But, what did I Spy at the counter when checking out...

Yes!!! SIX different body lotions!!! The store had just put out the first 6 as samples when I yelled politely asked when they would be available. The sales associate said they had boxes of them right there, just delivered. Yippeee!

Are these little Halloween themed-bottles so stinkin' cute!!!!...

I am so glad to see all these Halloween-themed items coming out so early. This way all the Christmas stuff will be available in October. (sarcasm)

Do you have any of these items or, are they on your wish list?
