Franken Kiss and Teal

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 4/16/2011 07:10:00 PM
Got to ask you, readers, something.  I posted that I would end my giveaway on 4/30.  Would it be a bad thing to move it up?  I feel it is just too far away and I want to give stuff out sooner.  Let me know what you think in the comment box.

I've been swatching today and previewing workout DVDs; my two favorite hobbies, combined together.  I stayed home all day except for my morning walk/run.  I'll do some more of it, again, tomorrow.  What a perfect weekend for me.  I hope you got to do something fun yourself.

This is a fun mani.  Take a look...
I took an old bottle of Sally Gal's 'So 70's' polish  and mixed in Aromaleigh's 'Mela #9' mineral shadow.  I didn't give it much thought, just grabbed a shadow and started mixing.  My franken is in the middle.  Oh, man, that was easy!!
(Note: Sally's doesn't use names on these babies anymore. GASP!!! It's now #315)
I surprised myself that it turned out.  And I love the color.  Here's what it looks like on me...
Very sheer, so it would be an overlay, best of all.  And, because I was using a very old bottle of 'So 70's, it was seriously thick.  I put in a couple drops of acetone but it didn't do much good at all.  I didn't know where my polish thinner was.  Oops.
This franken hasn't lost any of its sparkly-ness with the mineral shadow color.  It's full of iridescent glitter in a teal base.  I name my creation 'Franken Kiss and Teal'.
This is three coats and it was saturated.  It was gritty even with Seche Vite over it.  But, I'm going to let this slip by because I'm so pleased with myself. ;)   I'm going to ask my Mom to put it up on the refrigerator door as my current work of art.

I'm going to use this polish one more time, over a base coat.  What color do you think I should use?  And, if you are into making frankens or have been wanting to try it for the first time, Sally's has these baby nail polishes at by 2, get one free.  It's an inexpensive way to try it out.

Very pretty franken! It does look a little on the sheer side.

And I think it would be fine to move the ending date up. Put up a post notifying people the closing date is changing, and go for it!

I like this franken. I suck at it :(. I think it's fine if you want to change your giveaway closing date, I wanted to change mine, I felt like 3 weeks was SO long.

Change the closind date, but not this franken, I love it. I dont understand the chemistry of mixing, all of my seem to come out grey! UGH!

What a pretty Franken! It's sparkly with just a touch of color. Maybe try it over a base that's similar to Mela #9? I love Aromaleigh - too bad there's so much damned drama around it. ANYWAY, I say move the giveaway up! Though April 30th *is* just around the corner.

@Peach Since the base color was meant to be an overlay I knew it would be a bit sheer. And, sometimes sheers can be OK on a bare nail, however, most of the time, I like them as an overlay. :)

@Elizabeth I just wanted to play with some polish and minerals. Trust me, I don't know the chemistry on frankens like Ange and Chris to. Sort of why I was so delighted with myself. lol
Just play and see if you can come up with some, I encourage you!!

@Everythingsdiamond I did one right before this and it was a terrible coat=trash can!

@MissMidnight Sweets, you know I love my naming game. I would take a job/volunteer to name polishes in a heartbeat!

@Megan I'll have to try it with something like that. There isn't much left but, I'm not throwing it away without doing a bit more trials with it.

@Ice Queen I think you read my mind, doll! I'm curious as to where the teal would show up. Since it is a lighter teal, it should.

@kittypolishnbags Thank very much!

@BeauxsMom Thanks! Read further down, K?

@MartianDelights I am happy that it is subtle. You KNOW I had to have sparkle! :)

Thanks, good friends, for your input. I will move the date up. I'm not quite sure what date but I'm thinking no one would really mind winning earlier!! I am looking at next Sat. Did you see I have 700 already! OGM! I am shocked!
