Wet 'N Wild's Bejeweled Collection

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 4/02/2012 06:24:00 PM 0 comments
The entire weekend, I had planned to stay home and chill.  However, when my friend, Alli of nifty_ba, shared a quick Facebook chat, that all changed. She told me that the Winn Dixie grocery store near me had the new Be Jeweled collection from Wet 'n Wild. Off I went to see what I could snag.

These are the jewels that I came home with...
From the left: The Crown Is Mine; Jewels For Your Highness; Born Into Privilege; Bow In My Presence. What is missing is: Speak When Spoken To.

They are all sparkly with micro glitter and small glitter, mixed up into a look meant for royalty.

Who could wait to swatch one of these? Resistance is futile, in my case...

Since I couldn't decide which one first, I reached into the bag and pulled one out. The winner: 'The Crown Is Mine'. The primary color is a light lavender shade and it is not showing in the photos. But you can see the small glitter in shades of blue, magenta and silver.

I knew that 'The Crown Is Mine' was going to be thin. I looked for a very neutral pink to use as a base coat. This helped bring out the sizzle in this polish. This is the swatch with a light pink creme underneath.

Here is a test of just 'The Crown Is Mine' without a base color...
Nice and very dainty. Yet, I wanted to give the polish a bit more of a grandstand. And, with a light pastel creme polish from Color Club as 'underwear', that is what I got...

I found it interesting that even though it is a glitter polish, it didn't take scrubbing to remove it. I used Zoya's Remove+ and it works splendidly.

It was a very bright and hot day today in Central Florida. Yet, in the shade, 'The Crown Is Mine' shimmers. However, let me explain, the glitter is one I would not refer to as 'in your face'. It is subtle...
And that makes it perfect for Spring.

Take a look at my friend Alli's blog, nifty_ba. She shows looks of the day and she is just as cute as a button to model them too.

The nail polish universe has gifted us with a plethora of glitters lately. Or, so it seems. Are you still in a glitter mood? What do you think of the newest Wet 'n Wild collection 'Be Jeweled'?

I Spy Wet 'n Wild and Sinful Colors at Walgreens 3/19

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 3/21/2012 07:18:00 PM 0 comments
My sarcastic words of wisdom will have to wait. My USB ports aren't working on my computer. They worked yesterday, though. I'm sure there is some karma in that but I haven't figured it out yet.

Did you enter for my birthday giveaway? If not, you'll get left out. Go here and enter, K?

Luckily, I spied some stuff on Monday at Walgreens to share with you. Hee heee!

Any time you find a combo set of Wet 'n Wild, it usually has pieces that were sold separately before. A company will do this because they have overstock and packaging it this way allows them to, hopefully, still make a profit. However, I do not think I have seen those eye shadows before. Maybe someone will post a comment and let me know. I know I don't have the shadow set in the Flora Collection.

And, if you are looking for more Wet 'n Wild deals, I have this for you...
I didn't look over this display very hard. Looking quickly, I didn't see anything new, to me. But the price is very good if you are looking to add to your Wet 'n Wild stash.

This display is called a 'sidekick' display. It's hung on the side of an endcap, or the shelves at the end of an aisle. Walgreens does this a lot. And when Wet 'n Wild has these, they usually are in a cardboard shadow box, just like the one you see here. What store associates like about them is that they come pre-loaded. That means all the pieces are already in place. They just pull this display out of the shipper box and hang it up. When the display sells down, they just take down the box and throw it away.

I read that Sinful Colors had a collection of lip glosses out. And, I am glad to have spotted it...
I was dashing into Walgreens to look for the Sinful Colors collection called 'Girls in Pearls'. I found them and just did a quick run-through looking for other new stuff. That's why I didn't get close-ups of these. As far as for me, I bet I can match up everyone of these beauties to something identical in my gloss drawer at home. Let me say that these are sexy glosses and I encourage you to check them out.

And lately, I have been spying more and more chameleons. Look at her, she is wearing neutral makeup...at the moment. Ha!

A Positively Purple Polish

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 1/22/2012 06:28:00 PM 0 comments
This comparison is quite by accident. And so is much of the cool things I have discovered in my life. That's why I'm so big on things I call 'pleasant surprises.'

After I did this post on Cosmetic Arts nail polish, I went looking for a new polish to swatch. And wouldn't you know it, I found this one...

This one is purple. No doubt. Take a look at it side by side with the previous Cosmetic Arts I reviewed...

Now there is no doubt that the one I first reviewed, which I named 'Shifter', is a green. There's a lot less slate color present, as it showed alone in the previous post, when you match it up next to the purple.

So, I'm always thinking of a name for these no-namers whilst I polish. I have to, sometimes, really think it over. But most of the time, it will just pop into my thoughts. This is one I had to mull over...

I don't write down a bunch of names and pick from those. It isn't that important to decide, really. I don't get any money or even brownie points. It's just a fun game. So, here's the one I got: 'Positively Purple'.

And it has a LOT going on! This is 3 coats with Color Club's 'Vivid' Color Intensifying Top Coat.

It is a bit of a shifter, itself. Glimmery, gritty, glitzy all happening at the same time.
Depending on the light source, there are many looks/shades to this Cosmetic Arts 'Positively Purple' polish.

What do you think...a cool purple? Between 'Positively Purple' and 'Shifter', which is your favorite?

I Spy....Wet 'n Wild Skinny Girls Being Chased By Zombies At Walmart

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 1/18/2012 05:43:00 PM 0 comments
Before I settle in for the evening to play 'Stupid Zombies' read an interesting book on my Kindle Fire, I want to share with you some products I saw last Monday at a Super Walmart.

(Side note: I was playing 'Stupid Zombies' on my phone waiting for a one-on-one conference call with one of the companies I do business with. When my phone rang, I saw that the screen for 'Answer' came up and I pressed it. The woman who was dispatching me to the caller asked me to hold. As I waited, the Stupid Zombies was still running and there were these zombie groaning away. I was laughing so hard thinking that the person I would be talking with would hear them as well and wonder what the hell? OK. I thought it was hilarious.)

The project I did on Monday at Walmart was a fun one. But the management wasn't. Totally another story. But, I managed to soothe myself by doing some shopping. I am intrigued by the products I'm going to show you, but I didn't make any purchases...I'm just sharing.

I have only read about this one in a quick blurp in a fashion magazine...

Skinny Girl makeup and skin line seems to have just about a bit of everything. The minimalist graphics on the packaging make me think of ELF. I didn't see anything here that I haven't seen before with other brands, though. Same with the shades they offered.

Did I know that Wet 'n Wild came out with a crackle nail polish?

Looks like there were quite a few shoppers wanting to try it, since this display was rather picked over.

And, lastly, this is a product that is new to me, as well...

Sensationail is a soak-off gel nail polish system. This is made by the Nailene Company. I've been testing out some of their soak-off nail products and I have to say, it is very easy to use and holds its own. I haven't used this particular product, however. And I don't have any of these gel shades, which are, by the way very pretty and fashionable. (I hope I'm not letting a zombie out of the bag about any upcoming giveaways....grrrrrroooooaaaaaannnnn)

Cluing you in...if you call me and hear any groaning in the background, don't think it's any funny business. I was just patiently waiting for you to call. :)

Where's the Party? On Your Nails And Everybody's Coming!

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 12/13/2011 08:30:00 AM 0 comments
Have you just about had enough of the 'Happy Birthday' glitter polishes??!! Practically no brand has skipped this polish band wagon.

If you read enough nail blogs, you have, by now, read about Debra Lippman's 'Happy Birthday' nail polish. If not, and since I do not currently own this polish, here's Vampy Varnish's swatches of it. 'Happy Birthday' as been around at least a couple of years. Yet it is still popular.

Check out some of the dupes I have...
First, there is Icing's 'Birthday Beyotch', Milani's 'Gems', Ulta's 'Pinata-Yada-Yada', and Wet 'n Wild's 'Correction Tape'.

None of them are dupes, but they are all in the same neighborhood.
Icing's 'Birthday Beyotch' wins in the best name category. Hee hee. I spy red, gold, green, teal and fuchsia; some larger, some smaller. Then it is all swimming in a vat with teal micro-glitter.
Here's Milani's 'Gems'. This one has two sizes of hex glitter in it. And then that is all in a very translucent teal base that shares even more micro-glitter. Tons of red, silver, gold, green, and blue glitter. I found this one to apply the most glitter.
This is Ulta's 'Pinata-Yada-Yada.' Worst name here. :/ Gold and fuchsia hex glitter is surrounded by two smaller sized glitters in gold, teal, and red. The base is a slightly blue tinged color.
And this is Wet 'n Wild's 'Correction Tape.' I'm still scratching my head over that name. If you 'get it', would you leave me a comment? All the glitter seems to be the same size in gold, teal and fuchsia. Without getting out my microscope, I think there is some gold hex and fuchsia squares in this one. Not as rainbow colored at the others, it gives the feeling of Mardi Gras.

Are 'Party Hands' the same thing as 'Jazz Hands'?

On my thumb and middle finger, I swatches 'Birthday Beyotch'. On my index finger is 'Gems'. On my ring finger is 'Pinata-Yada-Yada' and that leaves 'Correction Tape' on my pinky. This photo shows 3 coats.

Here's where I started and this is 2 coats. So, you can do a little glitter or gobs. However, the polish you can pick to apply under these is all up for grabs. These are naked here, though.

Now, once you are ready to remove the glitters, you might want to read up on the foil removal method; no one wants to leave the party on your nails!
Confetti nails, I say. When I lived in Kansas City, KS, there was a dance bar on the Missouri side called 'Confetti's'. The next morning I always found confetti in my clothes that I had worn and even on the floor where I had changed into my jammies. It was everywhere! And you'll experience the same thing when you go to remove any of these glitters.

Great polishes for New Year's Eve parties? Which one do you like the best? Can you think of any other polishes that live in this neighborhood?

Green and Blue Holiday Polish Dupes

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 11/21/2011 05:40:00 PM 0 comments
Want to see some more Holiday nail polish dupes?? TOUGH! I'm doing more anyway. ;)

Green and blue dupes and comparisons...
These two are not even similar. However, that's what happens when I look for dupes in my stash hidden placed in my closet. But, let's take a look at them for the sake of looking at some very beautiful polishes.

Sally Hansen's 'Blingtastic' is from the new Gem Crush collection. It has blue micro glitter and a smattering of silver hexagon glitter. It looks like a Christmas card that has the glitter on it.

The green is from Color Club's Beyond the Mistletoe. This is called 'Holiday Splendor.' Very dense green micro-glitter with iridescent glitter. I'm reminded of a thick Christmas tree with lots and lots of those tiny Christmas lights.

It's easy to tell the difference between these two. And it is easy to see that I didn't put on cuticle oil before photographing.

'Holiday Splendor' is very opaque. Just 2 coats here. And 'Blingtastic', oh my! The silver glitter did NOT want to apply. I ended up dabbing them on. And the polish, poor stuff, pulled really bad.

Next up, another mismatch...
Very, very similar in the bottle. The Wet 'n Wild polish is 'Cost Is No Issue' from the Ice Baby collection. The Sally Hansen is not a new one, but one I rummaged through my stash and found. It's name is 'Teal-y Cool.'
Good grief. When am I going to learn that these Sally Hansen Xtreme Wears can be as watery as Wonton Soup.

I don't know if I can even recommend 'Teal-y Cool' for a special effects top coat. Maybe I'll give it one more chance doing just that.  As far as 'Cost is No Issue', that baby is dense and opaque in two coats. Oh, and for the record, 'Teal-y Cool' is 3 coats.

Because I loved 'Holiday Splendor' so much, and I mean VERY much, I took off the Wonton Soup polish (aka 'Teal-y Cool'). I put 'Holiday Splendor' on to make a complete manicure in one shade.
It's a 'Christmas tree with sparkly ornaments' polish.
Great shot to show you the sparkle. I'm not exaggerating (this time).
And it is opaque in 2 coats. This time, I did put on a top coat. I used Color Club's Vivid Color Intensifying Top Coat.

And, I changed things up for my right hand. I used Wet 'n Wild's 'Cost Is No Issue' up against Sally Hansen's 'Blingtastic.' I think this is the pairing I meant to do in the first place.

'Cost Is No Issue' is on my thumb, middle and pinky. That leaves 'Blingtastic' for the index and ring nail. I have got to just love the shades in the Icy Baby collection. They are very dense with glitter. However, once again, I had to work at fishing out the sliver glitter in 'Blingtastic' as well as not very dense in just 2 coats. And, it is much more of a blue shade next to 'Cost Is No Issue' which leans towards a teal. No top coats here.

I think it is, without a doubt, that 'Holiday Splendor' is my favored polish in this round. It's not very unique among Holiday green glitters. But what is fantastic about it is the opaqueness and the sparkle it has.

Any favorites here for you?
