Is There Anybody Out There, Space Cadet

"The" colors to have this fall were from Orly's FX Collection.  It seems a majority of the nail blogs I read liked 'Space Cadet' the best.  Here's why...

I understand the name of 'Space Cadet' but why a 'spacy' name for such a totally complex shade?  I think I can see about 4 to 5 different colors that flash in this one.

You bet this is the same polish, the same manicure.  First is the outdoors shot.  Next is indoors by the sunny window.  Is it purple?  Is it green?  Yes!  Oh, and magenta too.

I knew I'd hate myself if I spaced out and didn't get 'Space Cadet.'  What I have done is the basic manicure I do: 1 BC, 1 Seche Clear, 2 color coats, 2 Seche Clear with Seche Vite last.  No one has asked me and maybe no one really wants to know, however, I use that many coats because my nails are not strong and the extra coverage helps.

This is a serious beg...if you did NOT get 'Space Cadet,' you need to go get yourself a bottle STAT!!  This will end up with a cult status, I predict.

Orly went overboard with this one.  There is just no way I can explain this color.  The photos do a better job.  I think this one is best left up to a visual rather than verbal.  There was no trouble getting this to apply.  Two coats and it was sensational.  Of course, the Orly bottle and that rubberized top are standard coolness.  The polish dried quickly for me and after that last Vite, I was running to some light to experience the 'wonderful, magnificent, magical effect that transformed my digits into a spectacular experience in nail polish world.'  I used DisneyWorld ads for inspiration on that sentence.

'Space Cadet' is almost derogatory too.  How about calling it 'Major Tom'?

Polish Colors for the Holidays

Today's mani and pedi made me feel in a festive mood.  Both make great holiday colors.

I get the feeling that when most people see me they think of someone mind-mannered, middle of the road and 'safe.'  I only appear that way because some of the places I work don't like that (you fill in that alternative) look. 

So over the years I have found ways that I can push the envelope.  One of those ways is with nail polish colors.  I can keep my nails rather short, if need be, but not stubby.  But if there is no rule on the colors, I go for it!

This is Hard Candy's 'Zombie.'  Uhm, OK...don't get the Zombie part but it is a cool color.  Maybe 'Zombie Apocalypse Aftermath' would be more interesting.  I think it is.

Can you see the glitter?  Well, hell yes you can!!!  This is pure glitter.  Purple/magenta and teal.  All overloaded with more shimmer than the disco ball from Studio 54.

This is the 'I can't take my eyes off of' color.  And man, this type of glitter makes me have to be reallllly super diligent with clean up.  I think I'll hunt up more like this for the practice that I need.  And it's the angle of my thumb making it look askew.  It's totally level when I check it out from the back side.

I got a fair amount of practice with 'Zombie' because I used at least 4 coats.  I had some serious bald spots that needed work.  I used a base, then Seche Clear, tons of coats of color, 2 Seche Clears then topped off with China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat.  After all that, my nails are not terribly gritty.  I am not looking forward to removal though.  So I'm going to wear this another day.

Here's another color for the holidays I picked for the toes...

Orly's Holiday collection presenting 'Rockin' Rocket.'  I'm saying it's a perfect color for the holidays and, if you can wear a red polish to work, this one isn't going to bug out the eyes of those looking down noses.  It's a burgundy red that seems well-mannered.  However, when you peek closer, 'Rockin' Rocket' is set to blast off!  

Sparkly sass!

 I have some sexy, strappy red high-heel shoes this would go with.  Those cool shoes that I haven't worn yet...in over 2 years...with no place to wear them to.  *grimace*

'Rockin' Rocket' only needed one good coat.  I used 2 just to make sure.  Orly works splendidly.  Color ends up true to what you see in the bottle.  Nothing negative with this one.  Mrs. Claus has this pedi color for when her man gets home from work!!!!

If you are not in the food or medical industry, do you have nail polish restrictions?  And, if you feel your work dress code is strict, do you push the envelope and, how?

One #*$% of a (@&!^ Color!

In spite of never, ever needing another bottle of polish, I still buy them.  Go ahead and say 'DUH!' because that's why we blog.  And, my fickle nature comes out with polish colors because almost every one I get, I think 'oooh, it's my favorite!!!'  Total drooling gush.

But, a vampy color is my favorite type of color.  A vampy red and I'm picking it for my marooned on an island color.  Add in some glitter and I'll never come back from my la la land.
No exception...

I haven't been as excited about a new collection as much as I was with Color Club's Untamed Luxury.  This is 'Red Velvet' from the Every Shade of Indulgence set.  'Red Velvet'...come to Kimmy!!!!!!

This is a black base that has maroon glitter suspended in it.  I would have loved this color even if it didn't have the glitter, just a combination of black and maroon.  But the maroon as glitter?  I'm making exclamations ala 'Orbit Gum Commercial.'

One base coat, 2 Seche Clear coats, 2 color coats, 1 Seche Clear and finishing up with Seche Vite.  The polish was easy to apply as far as the formula goes.  I'm not overly fond that the brush is on this side < of skimpy.  But, I'm willing to forgive for that small slight.  If you are interested in a bottle that is easy to hold and a top that is easy to grip, gotcha covered here.

 The photos of the bottle in the sunlight are the only photos here that give a true representation of this smart ass(peration) of color.  Deep, rich and sexy.  Like I said...come to Kimmy!!!!

Even though this was released before Halloween, do you agree that it is still a good Holiday switch-over?  If I were to go to a Christmas/Holiday party, I'd love to find a dress this color.  Wouldn't that be fu-abulously cool?

Glamorous Glitter Giveaway

This giveaway is coming out early because I feel that many of these colors would work for the holidays.  I have made my own collection from Forever XXI polishes.  They are the Glamorous Glitter Collection.

(Today's lighting is provided by 'Sucks Wind')  The top photo shows a line up of most of the colors in this collection.  In the second photo, we have:  Charcoal, Silver, Teal (a green one), Teal (more blue-ish), Dark Purple.

In this line up: Purple, Magenta, Brown, Gold and White.  Such inspiring names!!!!  NOT!
So, just forget the bland names and enjoy these micro-glitter beauts.

I found another color to add to these.  These are bottles that are all the same shape.  Charcoal (still a different color than the previous Charcoal), Teal and Dark Purple.

Oh, and the gratuitous pink polish is missing.  If I can find a sparkly one in my stash, I'll add it.  Probably along with other 'special' things too.
