I Found My Holy Grail For Nude and Holy Schmit Bar Glitter

If you read this post, you know that I was disappointed in this polish as it looked dirty on my fingers.  However, I am a huge fanatic of top coat glitters.  This glitter is SO SPECIAL I HAD to find the perfect nude base polish.  Hot damn!!!  I did!!!

This is Color Club's 'Incognito' from their Alter Ego collection.  Looky!!!

I'm so happy to have found this one and how yummy it looks on me.  No streaks, no dirt, no problems.

OK, so I have found my 'canvas.'  Here's the media...

Swoon....Die!!!  It's a Green Holographic Bar Glitter!!!  I let out a 'yip' when I saw this at the beauty supply store.  I held it tight as I shopped, truly afraid I'd drop it or some other polish lover would snatch it right out of my paws!!
This is Kleancolor's 'Starry Meteor.'

Only one complaint...the bar glitter didn't live up to its end of the deal; it didn't want to apply to my nails.  Oh, there is one other complaint...this polish smelled terrible.  I had to leave the room because it became over-powering.

I dabbed the polish on trying to get some of the bars off the brush and onto my nails.  I did get the regular glitter and the micro glitter on just fine.  In the long run, I am gaga over this mani!  I think I love this one the best.  Maybe I've said that already, lol, but this time I MEAN IT!!  ;p

I think I'm going to wear this one more day.  It's sparkly without being over-bearing.  It's green without looking like fungi.  It's cute and I don't care if it looks like little girl nails.  One thing it is, it's mine.

Making the Scene with Green Scene

Here's a bright idea...

Not too long ago, I won a Facebook contest with Body and Soul nail blogger, Mary.  Do click on the hyperlink to check out her most recent post; it has a darling photo there. :)  I won 2 sets of Color Club's Eco Chic collections.  This little greenie came from there.

This is named 'Green Scene.'  Perfectly fitting with an eco-friendly collection.  I sort of like this little green fella.  This is 2 coats and it was, actually, easy for me to work with.

I used Nailene's 'Miracle Maker' as the top coat and got a super shine.  This shade fits right in with St. Patrick's Day, don't you think?

You may have noticed I have been experimenting with photo looks.  Here's one I love seeing on other blogs and am trying to copy...

Yep.  I'm admitting straight up that I'm stealing this look from several other nail bloggers.  I don't know which one is the creator of this look however, if they comment or email me, I'll certainly give them the credit that is certainly due.  ;)

I can see 'Green Scene' being a perfect base color for nail art, particularly for St. Patrick's Day.  Or, how about a shatter or crackle?!!!

Mardi Gras Mani Madness!!!

Ooh, I almost missed any part of celebrating Mardi Gras!  Well, if I insist on a few more days of celebration, Universal Studios carries the theme til April 23.

This is one of those designs I have swirling around in my brain looking for a way to manifest.  Here's what I used as my inspiration...

This is a pin I got when I was working in Louisiana, one year, during Mardi Gras.  I didn't GO to Mardi Gras but I was around New Orleans while it was being celebrated.  In many of my travels, I will purchase a piece of jewelry to remember the event or the place.  I have had this pin for about 10 years and still wear it during Mardi Gras.

The color scheme is yellow, green and purple.  And I added in OPI's Black Shatter to the look...

Mardi Gras Mani Madness!!!

I painted on the colors in a diagonal stripe alternating directions on each finger.  After drying, I put on a layer of Shatter.  I liked it so much, I had to run over to my hubs and show it off.  I got the gratuitous 'oh, ah, yes!' from him.

Well, I think it's cute! I just wish I would have thought of it last night instead of tonight.  I'm still going to wear it tomorrow.  No one handed me a rule book!

Last weekend was the 70th anniversary of the Daytona Bike Week.  My hubs and I went as he had never been before.  And we had a blast.  Here's the thumb ring I got to commemorate the event...

Can't Decide Between Crackle or Flaky? Do Both

After trying out 'Irish Green,' I couldn't decide if I wanted to try 'Green Ocean' as an overlay or a new China Glaze crackle.  Well, I knew the entire manicure was going to come off that night anyway.  I had a convention to work today and needed something very dull more business-friendly.

That do I do when I can't decide?  Try both...

I picked 'Lightning Bolt' from China Glaze's crackle collection and I used Sinful Color's 'Green Ocean.'  I alternated nails to check these two out.

I will confess, I had to redo the crackle nails.  When I did it the first time, I monkeyed around with the polish too much, thus, it didn't crackle.  It crapped instead.

The second attempt was OK.  I'm not in love with it.  The 'Green Ocean' was the definite winner here.

'Lightning Bolt' is a fussy polish.  Man, you have to place it right over the base color.  No fudging allowed!  You can see the base coat showing through at the cuticle and on the sides.  I didn't put a top coat on either of these polishes.  The China Glaze crackles do matte dry.  However, a shiny top coat snaps it out of the matte.

Oh, and I used two coats of the 'Ocean Green' to make it super sparkly.

Did you know you can capture Leprechauns by baiting them with shiny pennies?

They are known to be greedy and let down their guard when they see shiny pennies or coins.  Do you think I can capture one by setting out a bile of shiny nail polish?  If you can capture a Leprechaun, they have to tell you where they have their own stash of gold hidden.

Which do you like better, gold or green?  Crackle or glitter?

'Dirty Deeds, Done Dirt Cheap' Manicure

In theory, lots of things should work out.  However, I find plenty that just don't.

Here is a polish from a few Christmas' past, China Glaze's 'Golden Enchantment'....

I got this really cheap off a Sally's clearance shelf.  I couldn't snag it fast enough!  One hot, sparkly holographic glitter!  Yep, all at once.  Look at them sparklies...

I didn't kid myself this time; I knew this was not going to be opaque with a hundred coats.  This is the color I chose to use as a base coat...

Out of the Alter Ego collection is Color Club's 'Revealed.'  Don't let it escape you, this does have a very, very slight pink pearl/shimmer to it.

Added together, I got...

Dirty Nails, Done Dirt Cheap.  Blech!  I look like a have failed to wash my hands and nails.  Worse than mannequin hands.

Dirty. And Cheap.  Definitely a mani I wasn't going to keep.  NEXT!!!

Some of those light, dusty pinks make my nails/hands look dirty.   Does anyone else have that issue?
