Just Beyond Neutral Shadows From Overall Beauty Store

Neutral tone makeup is always safe. But it isn't always exciting. However, I have noticed, in the past couple of years, how neutrals have evolved and are getting a bit of sizzle to them.

To prove my point, here are a couple of mineral eye shadows provided to the Central Florida Beauty Bloggers from Overall Beauty...

First, Kim, the owner of Overall Beauty, makes up the cutest packages. It's enough to make anyone that sits at the vanity squeal in delight.

Part of the package was these two square emery boards. Just perfect for keeping one in the car and the other one my nightstand.

And the mineral shadows...

On the left is 'Blink!' and, on the right is 'Summer Wheat'. I spoke with Kim regarded the colors and how well they work, not only together, but also with almost any combo. She told me that she picked these shades to share with the Beauty Bloggers as they were the most universal shades for all skin types.

Take a closer look at 'Blink'!...

It is peach tone with a bit of depth to it. I like how it looks on my eyelid.

And 'Summer Wheat'...

What a cool smoky brown. I use it for the crease but it works just as well on the lid too.

Some swatches for you to compare...

'Blink!' is on top and I have 'Summer Wheat' underneath. I used a light hand to swatch but both shades can be built up. 'Blink!' is soft and has just a hint of a shimmer. It's a pinky-peach on my skin. And 'Summer Wheat' almost looks like a brown matte. But there is a very subtle shimmer to this one as well. The shades blend easily and with a shadow primer, I was good to go for the day with my neutral look that dared to push the envelope.

Dress Me Up For The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games is the first blockbuster movie of the year. Have you seen it yet? How about China Glaze snapping up the rights to have The Hunger Games nail polish collection? This shade is just about for everyone...

'Dress Me Up' is a pinkish-taupe creme. I didn't expect to like it. However, once I applied it, I was smitten.

I applied 3 coats. However, you can still see a patch or two of nail balding. That is one of the difficulties of creme nail polish. But, in real life, you really have to scrutinize to see this flaw. And I think this shade would be a nice base for shatter polish or nail stamping.

'Dress Me Up' is a warm color and yet, it is a neutral that is partial to being perfect for a wedding, as well as to wearing to work. And it might be so neutral in color that almost all skin tones can wear this one easily.

Very shiny without a top coat, I have applied 3 coats. 'Dress Me Up' is a pleasant surprise; I like it very much.

China Glaze Serves Up Foie Gras From The Hunger Games

I'm wearing this polish now and I don't know if I can remove it. Well, I have to; there are just too many other cool polishes in China Glaze's 'Hunger Games' collection.

This is the first one I grabbed out of the bag...

And what a winner it is!

This is 'Foie Gras'. As beautiful as the word is, I don't like what it is. Moving on...

'Foie Gras' polish is a creamy milk chocolate color. It makes me what a piece of Godiva chocolate. I have 2 coats on with no top coat. I'm really surprised I got away with just 2 coats. I felt that the polish was on the thick side but it did even out very well. 

Getting ready to line up the next shade from the Hunger Games collection, I picked out 'Riveting'. Perfect name for this stunning shimmery orange with a sprinkle of gold flecks...

I felt a compulsion coming over me so I went with it...

Sort of a neh....not something I want as a full manicure. But, at least, I satisfied my curiosity.

Then, came 'Luxe and Lush'. This is one to gush over...

 I could have taken hundreds of photos because I love flakies and I love iridescent glitter...

What a wicked combination.

'Luxe and Lush' is a tad gritty. 'Riveting' is totally smooth. Both are shown as one coat. 'Riveting' needs to work alone so, that is the next shade to swatch.

How these polish names match up to the story Hunger Games, I don't know. I'm totally honest when I say that I have not read any of the Hunger Games trilogy. I'll gain no fans but, it doesn't seem like a story line I would be interested in. I think the story sounds like Stephen King's The Running Man and, The Long Walk. However, every time I mention that I have not read the book(s), I'm told that they are really GOOD. OK, using my Kindle Fire, I can borrow the book from Amazon's lending library. I'll read it.

Perfect Fall Polish Shade: Unforgettable Moments 'Garnet'

Payless Shoes added a couple of beauty product lines over a year ago. In fact, I gave some of these as a giveaway. Even though I purchased a few of their polishes, I felt they went better with a Fall trend so I have one for you now and another one later this month.

This is Unforgettable Moments' 'Garnet'...

Looking at this color in the bottle, I'm thinking that I would not call that shade 'Garnet.' This is the color of a garnet and fits more with what I imagine...

Unforgettable Moments looks more brown. However, take a look on the nail...

Almost like the stone. And, just for your information, as beautiful as garnets are, they do not cost very much. Many times people will purchase a garnet stone rather than a red ruby, since rubies can be quite expensive.

So...in the bottle, a molten brownish-red...

On the nails, somewhat dark red that shows a hint of purple...

'Garnet' wore pretty good. I used 3 coats and have Finger Paint's top coat over that. The bottle is small as it came in a box of four smaller versions of the originals; all in the Fall color spectrum. It is a very easy polish to apply and I had no problems at all with it.

Traditional Sally Hansen Fall Manicure with a Couple of Twists

I have an annual Fall manicure. I cannot tell you how old these two Sally Hansen polishes are but they are old! I bet this is one of the first glitter polishes that company ever made!!!

The one directly above I tried to take it out of focus to see that holo stuff going on with the ring finger.

OK, break downs...this is the core base colors I used...

Sally Hansen's 'Bronzegold Frost' is the annual Fall base color. This year's new base color is Zoya's 'Codie.'

 The traditional glitter top coat: Sally Hansen's 'Gilded Pink.' Doesn't look pink but copper to me.

And layering 'Gilded Pink' over 'Codie' it looks like a left over Halloween manicure. Pretty but I'm so ready to move on from Halloween.

On my right hand, I did the same base colors but with Kleancolor's 'Aurora' as the layering top coat...

Sometimes the star glitter came out, most of the time it just stayed in the bottle. But the effects of the iridescent glitter is enough. I wish they wouldn't have even bothered with the star glitter.

There's no wedding planned but I think of it as 'something old, something new...' Here's hoping you look forward to your Holiday traditions whether they are old or new, or a beautiful mixture of both.
